Saturday, July 7: Jump Ashin!

Ashin has spent his entire life training for the national team in gymnastics. His mother believes his work will amount to nothing and asks his high school coach to take him off the team. Ashin then quits the sport entirely. He quickly falls in with wrong crowd and finds himself in a lot of trouble. Ashin leaves his small hometown of Yilan. Will he ever get back to the sport that he loves?

Docu-drama follows the journey of a group of Tibetans on a pilgrimage to Lasa, the holy capital of Tibet. The journey covers 1,200 km on foot, in a continuous repetition of prostrating one's self on the ground. Over 10 months, we see the simplicity of human relationships and the nature of family, suffering, and resolve.

The Yokoyama family come together every year to commemorate the death of the eldest son, Junpei, who drowned accidentally 15 years ago while saving the life of another boy. His father Kyohei, a retired doctor, and mother Toshiko are joined by their surviving son Ryota, who has recently married a widow with a young son, and their daughter Chinami, her husband and their children. The family experience nostalgia, humor, sadness and tension as memories are shared and ceremonies performed.
